Men who feel called by God to consider a vocation in the priesthood should, first and foremost, pray earnestly to discern whether or not this calling is "of God." It is not unusual for an older child to enroll in the Sacramental preparation program for First Holy Confession and First Holy Communion. Please call the Church Parish Office (937-6888) if you have any questions regarding our Sacramental programs.
A mandatory meeting for parents of all 2011-12 First Communion candidates will be held on October 20, 2011, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Pope John Paul II Church Parish Hall.
Sacramental preparation classes for First Communion Candidates in Grade 2 and older candidates in Grades 3-5 will be held on Thursday evenings from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. The schedule of mandatory class dates for candidates follows: X Welcome Session for candidates: November 3 X Confession Classes: November 17, December 1 and 15, January 5 and 19 X First Holy Confession: Thursday, January 26, 6:00 p.m. in church X Communion Classes: February 2 and 16, March 1, 15, and 29 X Retreat for First Communion Candidates: Saturday, April 14, 2012; 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 Noon; parents will be encouraged to attend a portion of the retreat; the retreat will include a rehearsal for First Holy Communion Mass.
Sacramental preparation classes for First Communion candidates in Grades 6-9 are held in the church parish office on Tuesday afternoons after the public school dismisses. Please call Mrs. Frances T. Toups at the church parish office for more information.
In all of these situations, some home study will be required in order to memorize prayers and Sacred Teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. Note: Candidates will receive the Sacraments after successfully completing all requirements. In some instances, this may require more than one year of Sacramental preparation. |

NOTE: Our Confirmation program is now a three-year sacramental preparation program for grades 9-11.
Confirmation candidates and sponsors will meet once a month for a luncheon after the 11:00 a.m. Sunday Mass. (If a sponsor must be absent, a parent must accompany the candidate to the luncheon.) In addition, the candidate must attend all Life Nights even though some of sessions will be scheduled on the same date as a luncheon.
Luncheon dates: November 6, December 4, January 8, February 12, March 4, and April 15. (Parents who enjoy cooking are invited to contact the church parish office to volunteer to cook a meal. The parish will provide all ingredients for each meal.) Confirmation Retreat: Saturday, April 28, 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. in Pope John Paul II Church Parish Hall Sacrament of Holy Confirmation: 5:00 Mass; Sunday, April 29 |

Parents must pick up a Baptismal packet and submit all necessary records to the Church Office by the time they attend the Baptismal seminar. The seminars are held in St. Joseph's Hall Conference Room at 4:00 p.m. on the last Sunday of each month. Although there is no fee for the seminar. NOTE: Only parents, expectant parents, and Godparents are invited to attend our baptism seminar, so please make baby-sitting arrangements for other children.
