Y.E.S. (Youth Encountering the Spirit) Summer Bible Camp for Grades K-5 Mrs. Frances T. Toups, Coordinator Email: ftoups@ololcatholic.com
NOTE: This summer camp does not take the place of the year-long home-study religious education program for Grades K-5.
With the assistance of approximately 50 teenage and adult volunteers, this week-long morning camp ministers to children in Grades K-5. Themed music, craft activities, Bible theater, Bible skits, outdoor games, and snacks keep everyone focused on each day's Bible story, Power Verse, and Bible Point. Participation is limited to 100 campers, so prompt registration is imperative. Registration packets are usually mailed to parents already in our database in late April. Packets are also available for pickup in a basket below the staircase leading to the choir loft in church as well as in the church office.
As with all of our other educational and sacramental programs, finances should never stop a student from registering for this summer camp. When necessary, parents should speak with our camp director who is often in touch with parishioners who want to help children attend this Spirit-filled camp. |

Summer Activities for Students |

Since the inception of our LifeTeen program in January 2000, our church parish has been blessed to send approximately 125 high school students and LifeTeen core members to Steubenville conferences each summer! Beginning on Friday evening and ending on Sunday at noon, the conference features plenty of music, dynamic guest speakers in national youth ministry organizations, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and the celebration of Holy Mass each day. Although the teens and core members attend Mass on Sunday morning at the conference, they are "on fire for the Holy Spirit" as they return home just in time to settle in for LifeTeen Mass. Friends and family members are always welcome to join us at LifeTeen Mass where we often hear brief testimonies offered by the teens as part of Fr. Wayne's homily on that Sunday.
As with our LifeNights, high school students of any faith denomination are welcome to attend this Catholic conference, but everyone, including chaperones, must sign up in advance. The conference fee is paid in three installments over a period of several months. Of course, finances should never stop a student from attending this conference. When necessary, students should speak with our LifeTeen director who is often in touch with parishioners who want to help teenagers attend this Spirit-filled conference. |

"Steubenville on the Bayou" is a Catholic weekend conference sponsored by the Franciscan University of Steubenville (Ohio) and hosted by the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux.
