Night Prayers

Prayer to the Most Holy Spirit (6)

O Holy Spirit, Eternal God with the Father and Son, Who sees all my actions and counts all my steps, from Whom no thought is hidden, enlighten me that I may clearly see what evil I have done today, and what good I have left undone.  And move my heart that I may sincerely repent and amend my life.  Amen.

An Act of Love (6)

O, my God, I love You above all things, with my whole heart and soul, because You are all good and worthy of all my love.  I love my neighbor as myself for the love of You.  I forgive all who have injured me, and I ask pardon of all whom I have injured.

Closing Invocation (7)

Holy Mother of Jesus, my Guardian Angel, Saint Joseph and my Holy Patron Saint, protect me during this night and during my whole life, especially at the hour of my death.  Amen.

Other Prayers

Memorare (in time of need) (6)

Remember, O Most Gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to Thy protection, implored Thy help, or sought Thy intercession was left unaided.  Inspired with this confidence, I fly unto Thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother.  To Thee I come, before Thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful, O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in Thy mercy, hear and answer me.  Amen.

Prayer to Saint Joseph (7)

Saint Joseph, you are the chaste and loving spouse of the Virgin Mary, the foster-father of Jesus, the protector and provider of the Holy Family and all families.  We have complete confidence in your loving care for new life and in your fidelity to the family.  We commend our efforts to your prayers and protection. Help us always to defend the gift of human life that it may grow to the abundance of Eternal Life promised and bestowed on us by your Son, our Brother, Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Hail, Holy Queen (6)

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope!  To Thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to Thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.  Turn then, O Most Gracious Advocate, Thine Eyes of Mercy toward us, and after this, our exile, show unto us the Blessed Fruit of Thy Womb, Jesus.  O Clement, O Loving, O Sweet Virgin Mary, pray for us, O Holy Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the Promises of Christ.  Amen.

Prayer of Saint Francis (7)

Lord, make me an instrument of Your Peace.  Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy.

Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love.  For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.  Amen.

The Holy Mass

“Why Should I Go to Holy Mass Every Day?” (8)

“The Holy Mass is the most perfect form of prayer!”

 Pope Paul VI

For each Holy Mass we attend with devotion, Our Lord sends a Saint to comfort us at death.

Revelation of Christ to Saint Gertrude the Great

“The world could exist more easily without the sun than without the Holy Mass.”

Saint Pio, the Stigmatic Priest

“If we knew the value of the Holy Mass, we would die of joy.”

The Curé d’Ars, Saint Jean Vianney

Once, Saint Teresa was overwhelmed with God’s goodness and asked Our Lord, “How can I thank you?”  Our Lord replied, “Attend one Holy Mass.”

Prayer before Holy Mass (8)

Eternal Father, we humbly offer Thee our poor presence and that of the whole of mankind from the beginning to the end of the world at all the Holy Masses that ever have or ever will be offered.  We offer Thee all the pains, sufferings, prayers, sacrifices, and joys of our lives, in union with those of our dear Lord Jesus here on earth.  May the Most Precious Blood of Jesus Christ, all His Blood and wounds and agony, save us through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary.  Amen.

Prayer after Receiving Holy Communion (8)

O Jesus, I believe that Thou art truly present in the Most Blessed Sacrament.  Although my eyes and tongue tell me that I have received only bread, yet my faith tells me that I have received Thy Body and Blood.  I believe, Lord; help Thou my unbelief.  I adore Thee as my God and my Savior.  Amen.

Prayer after Holy Mass (8)

Soul of Christ, sanctify me.  Body of Christ, save me.  Blood of Christ, inebriate me.  Water from the side of Christ, wash me.  Passion of Christ, strengthen me.  O Good Jesus, hear me.  Within Thy Wounds hide me.  Suffer me not to be separated from Thee.  From the malignant enemy, defend me.  In the hour of death call me, and bid me come to Thee, that with Thy Saints I may praise Thee forever and ever.  Amen.
