Summer Religion Program News Father Melancon expects all religious education students currently registered (2011-12) in Grades 1-5 to attend the two-week summer program, however, to be certain that we purchase enough supplies, we recently (March) mailed a letter to parents so we could prepare an enrollment list. X Eligible participants: Religious education students currently registered in Grades 1-5 during the 2011-12 school year § NOTE: The names of students who are not currently enrolled in our religious education program but want to attend our summer program will be put on a waiting list. The number of participants and volunteers will determine whether or not we are able to include the extra students. X Dates/time of summer program: June 11-22 from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 Noon each day X Brief overview of the two-week program: § Using the "learning center" atmosphere of our former summer programs, we plan to incorporate large group assemblies (Bible story skits, music, and a daily "Bible Talk" from Father Melancon) and small group sessions (crafts and games) into our daily activities. At present, we hope the children will spend approximately 25 minutes in each learning center. § We will incorporate some traditional components into the schedule as well: one catechism learning center and prayer center each day and two morning Masses each week. § We will need plenty of volunteer help. Yellow volunteer forms can be picked up from the table at the base of the choir loft staircase in church. The green sheets describe the "jobs" we are asking our volunteers to fill. § More details (including the dress code) will be added to this list as they are confirmed by Father Melancon in the coming weeks.
