At this time of year, a review of terms may help our parishioners make the most of the Lenten season:

V   Fasting means we have only one full meal a day.  Two lighter meals are permitted.  Eating between meals is not permitted, but liquids are allowed.  The law of fast binds all between the ages of 18 and 59.

V   Abstinence means we do not eat meat.  The law of abstinence binds all those 14 years of age and older.  All Fridays during Lent are obligatory days of abstinence.  We do not eat meat on any of the Fridays of Lent.

V   Almsgiving means we sacrifice by offering material goods to help purify our lives in preparation for renewing our Baptismal promises at Easter.

Father Broussard will hear Holy Confessions each Thursday during Lent from 5:00 to 5:30 p.m. while The Way of the Cross is prayed.  Holy Confessions will also be heard on Monday, March 15,  at 6:00 p.m.

Lenten Rice Bowls and calendars can be obtained from the box at the entrance of the Church.  Your sacrificial offering may be placed in the collection in the Rice Bowl envelope on Palm Sunday or any other Sunday or it may be brought to the Church Parish Office.

Identified donors who made donations to the Church by check or envelope during 2009 should have received in the mail a financial statement for tax purposes.  Persons who did not receive a statement but believe that they should have received one should call the Church Parish Office.

The Annual Knights of Columbus Barbecued Pork Steak Dinner fundraiser will be held on Sunday, March 21, at the Erath Community Building from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.  Tickets can be purchased from any KC member for $6.00 each.

Parishioners who would like to cook a meal (or donate money to help provide a meal) for LifeNights should sign the sheet located on the small table underneath the choir loft staircase in church.
